Every one matters
Crucial Issue #5: Ministry to the Next Generation.
Another of the crucial issues in a plateaued or declining church is the failure of such churches to make the adaptations in their "desired preferences" which might be necessary to build bridges to the younger generation-- particularly those ages 19-35.
This is not to say that the older generation does not matter. In fact they matter a lot and often forget how they can contribute to the younger generation. The Lord's church and God's Word does not go out of date. The same Biblical principals taught to past generations still matter in today's generation. In fact, I would say that those principals need to be reinforced in the younger generation.
God says in Ephesians 5:19 "speaking to one another in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs to the Lord." In obedience to God's word there should be no such thing as worship wars. The purpose of worship is our hearts. In worship we should desire to want more of Him not more of the self.
One of the best lessons that we have learned at GBC is that the young generation is not the future but the NOW. This means that we strive to place kids and young adults into being servants. Our Lord Jesus said "I did not come to be served but to serve" So bottom line is that the age is just a number. Every one matters and every one plays a role in Kingdom work.
